Upstairs Room Entertainment started as three friends — Buster, Adam, and Donny — making dumb, awful, BAD music in the upstairs room of a house in Tennessee. What began as an excuse to make noise together became something they kept coming back to, album after album.
The primary effort under the label was BAD (Buster, Adam Donny). They released The Life of a Slinky in 2003, Too Bad for Explanation in 2004, and Loserville Park in 2007. Buster recorded and released Melodious Mediocrity under the name Paul & the False Apostles in 2010. After a stretch away, Buster and Adam returned to the studio as Aimless/Intellect, recording Forced Perspective between 2012 and 2015, releasing it in 2015.
After another long pause — and the loss of Donny to ALS in 2020 — Buster and Adam pulled together unreleased tracks and remixed recordings. The result was The Etymological Fallacy, released in 2022 as a final BAD album and a tribute to everything the three of them built together.
Adam has continued releasing solo music under the name EMPTYADAM since 2024.
